Lyon will be welcoming the Eurafric Forum from 4 to 7 November 2013 at the Cité Internationale de Lyon.

The Eurafric Forum is an annual meeting of European SMEs and SMIs and will be focussing on water and energy problems in Africa, the sectors judged to be a priority on the African continent.

For many years now, the Urban Community of Lyon has entered into decentralised cooperation partnerships with foreign local authorities and in particular sub-Saharan Africa.

This cooperation, initially focussing on urban management, now needs to broaden to include economic development as a concrete response to the development challenges in our respective territories.

Conscious of these challenges, the Urban Community of Lyon and its partners have for several years now supported a policy favouring the establishment of economy meetings, in particular associated with the sectors of excellence of the agglomeration of Lyon.
It is in this context that every year Grand Lyon supports the organisation of the Europe-Africa Economy Forum, now - in its 13th year - being held in Lyon from 4 to 7 November 2013.

Organised by the ADEA - (Agency for Business Development in Africa), the Forum aims to bring together at the same place for 4 days, African decision-makers, the main European and

African lenders and specialist businesses in order to:

  • take stock of the investment projects in the water and energy sectors in Africa,
  • study international funding and the opportunities for partnerships and transfers of technology.
