The Vallée de la Chimie (the Chemical Valley) is permanently developing, and represents 800 ha and 6,000 direct jobs. 5 research centres: Solvay Arkema, Bluestar Silicones, Total, IFP Energies Nouvelles and a mixed Solvay / CNRS research unit dedicated to composite polymer materials round off the offer.
Axel’One, a collaborative innovation platform
Axel’One is developing 3 complementary property projects. 20% of the area will be for VSE’s / SME’s aiming to join collaborative R&D projects by 2016:
- the "innovative processes" platform (PPI), located in Solaize;
- the "innovative materials" platform (PMI), situated in Saint-Fons;
- the "campus" platform, situated in Villeurbanne on the LyonTech-la Doua campus.
Gaya project: the only experimentation platform in Europe for the 2nd generation biomethane sector
Based in Saint-Fons, the goal of the Gaya platform is to trial, on a semi-industrial scale, the various stages of transformation of biomass into biomethane.
Greater Lyon is supporting this project by providing to GDF Suez 1.6 ha of land.
