Entreprise 2012: Lyon is in pole position among cities that innovate

The classification by Entreprise magazine of the more dynamic of French cities as regards their attitude to innovation praises the vitality of the Lyon conurbation, a city that is resolutely looking forward and which has balanced the creative chemistry of: 

This confirms the "global innovation cities" classification carried out by the Australian agency 2thinknow which ranks Lyon 8th out of 331 cities in the world in terms of innovation in 2011.

For Gérard Collomb, Senator and Mayor of Lyon and Chair of Greater Lyon "This is recognition of the collective action being undertaken over the last 10 years by the various institutional and economic bodies in the conurbation.

Our city has been able to capitalise on its manufacturing history, re-invent itself using its strong entrepreneurial dynamism and has created an ecosystem that favours the emergence and success of innovating projects.

Lyon has always encouraged development through innovation, based on academic excellence, state of the art infrastructure and R&D policies closely linked to companies and businesses of the future.

Shared effort has allowed sectors of excellence to develop in the field of life sciences, cleantech and green chemistry and today to have 5 centres of excellence on its territory".
