Greater Lyon has strengthened its economic development policies towards companies of all sizes by drawing up a smart city strategy.
The idea of the "smart city"
The idea of the smart city is built around 4 main ideas:
- the taking into account of the environmental challenges and energy constraints;
- the main actors functioning as a network - local authorities, citizens and businesses;
- the movement away from ownership to usage - participation of users in the design of products and services;
- the inclusion of new technologies (information and communication, robotics, intelligent transport systems etc.) to
- facilitate working as a network,
- encourage changes in energy use,
- support and encourage behavioural change and usage patterns.
These four areas are important growth areas for businesses and more especially when put into practice cross sectorally. Beyond this, however, there is also a need to build new developmental models for the Greater Lyon area.
By setting down its vision of the city of the future, Greater Lyon wants to bring together those working on the ground and encourage them to contribute to the speeding-up of the transition. read more
