The network, today of 130 cities, offers its member a platform for exchanging strategic visions, expertise and experience. More than a place for the diffusion and showcasing of urban innovation aiming to improve public policies and local administrations, Eurocities is also a tool for promoting the role of cities before the European Union.

Lyon's action in the international Eurocities network

Among the actions conducted under Lyon's presidency from 2006 to 2008 are four important initiatives: the strengthening of cities abd clusters links; the production of a Declaration of the Mayors of EUROCITIES against climate change and the creation of a working group on territorial marketing (city branding). Today, Lyon is continuing its commitment alongside the European cities by its involvement in the EUROCITIES working groups (economy, mobility, culture forums).
