The President of the Republic of Tatarstan welcomed to Lyon on June 24, 2014
Rustam Nurgalyevitch Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and a delegation of around forty participants, including several ministers and representatives of companies, clusters and universities, were received by Karine Dognin-Sauze, Deputy Mayor of Lyon in charge of International Relations and Vice President of Greater Lyon for Innovation. Mrs Dognin-Sauze was accompanied by representatives of the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the CGPME (General Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Companies) and the Rhône-Alpes Medef (Movement of Companies in France), as well as the Rhône prefect’s representative.
Since the goal of this encounter was to discuss areas of common interest between the economic players in our respective areas, a meeting was organized for some sixty companies located in the Greater Lyon area, along with a visit to the Renault Trucks company.
The Executive Director of the Association of Innovative Russian Regions also presented market opportunities in Russia, most notably in Tatarstan, for Lyon companies working on new technologies adapted to urban services (energy, mobility, digital services).
With Kazan as its capital, Tatarstan is a republic within the Russian Federation and is located 800 kilometers east of Moscow.
In 2013, Tatarstan was ranked as one of the three most attractive Russian regions for foreign investors (according to a joint study by the Union of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the KPMG International Cooperative Association).
President Minnikhanov also heads the Association of Innovative Russian Regions.
