Lyon in Tinca (Romania) in October 2013
from 22 to 25 October 2013
A delegation from Lyon was in Romania, in the context of the inauguration of the multifunctional centre based in Tinca on 23rd October 2013.
For three years now, Grand Lyon, in conjunction with the non-governmental organisation "Cities in Transition", has been running a decentralised cooperation project with the city of Tinca (Romania) and the general council of Bihor, aiming to improve the living conditions of underprivileged populations, including the Roma, for better social integration in their parish.
This project is reflected by two flagship operations:
- the connection to the electricity mains of the Romani district of around one hundred families and lighting for the main road in this district
- the construction of a multifunctional centre improving hygiene and cleanliness conditions by sanitary facilities (baths, showers, toilets), a social aid and information service, also providing social and family economy advice, a day centre for children and adults and a crèche.
This centre was inaugurated on 23 October 2013 by elected officials from Lyon in the presence of local officials and the French ambassador in Romania.
