Barcelona (Spain) in Lyon in June 2014
from 4 to 5 June 2014
A delegation from Greater Barcelona (Metropolitan Area of Barcelona) was welcomed to Lyon on 4 and 5 June 2014.
The metropolitan area of Barcelona (AMB) is a public administration which comprises 36 municipalities around Barcelona and represents a population of 3.5 million residents. On 4 and 5 June 2014, Antoni Poveda, vice-president with responsibility for mobility, was present in Lyon with his colleagues responsible for transport and travel in Greater Barcelona. Objective of the visit: to study the public transport policy in the Lyon agglomeration, existing multimodal hubs, and new modes of urban mobility (cycleway network, car-sharing, transport info etc.).
An electric car trip and then one using Velo'v (an innovative citybike service) on the banks of the Rhône, the exploration of the green transport tunnel and the presentation of Sytral and the multimodal hub in Part Dieu gave the delegation the opportunity to find out all about the Lyon example in the area of urban transport.
Noted in the landscape of European metropolises for its efficiency in the area of urban transport, in Brussels in February 2014 Grand Lyon won the Intermode award. This award goes to European authorities which implement ingenious urban transport policies to improve mobility, in particular by interconnecting the various modes of transport.
