Lyon - Setif (Algeria) cooperation, key dates
In 2010, the El Atkik mosque was illuminated, thereby constituting a pilot project and an educational support in the plan to reinforce the skills of technicians in Setif, applied in the specific field of public lighting.
In 2011, a delegation exchange between Setif and Lyon was organised for businesses specialising in building, materials and real estate development. Since then, the economic stakeholders in the two agglomerations have been in regular contact to promote business flows and share good practices in the area of development.
In 2012, the cooperation by Lyon comprised the provision of its know-how to the programme for the redevelopment of Setif's amusement park. These actions allowed local stakeholders to validate their development choices and to design public spaces by bringing in other skills: sociology, economy, urban planning.
In 2012, Setif organised, with the help of the metropolis of Lyon, cultural days centred on exhibitions, concerts and a conference.
Another cultural measure - the “Noir et Blanc” programme led by Gertude II association - under way since 2003 in partnership with Algerian and French artists - makes available the homes of artists in Setif, Algiers, Jijel and Lyon.
