Lyon - Montreal (Canada) cooperation, key dates
In 2011, an active collaboration between the two territories was forged on the issue of public consultation with regard to major urban projects. This programme is designed as a vast laboratory for comparing urban practices, with in particular the establishment of an interactive discussion forum.
In 2012, the 25th anniversary of the cultural events entitled "Entretiens Jacques Cartier" was celebrated. For the event, a symposium on “the new tools for the planning and development of large urban regions” was organised jointly by Grand Lyon and the Metropolitan Community of Montreal. The two cities take turns hosting the event every three years, providing an opportunity for exchanges about current societal issues between French and Canadian universities, researchers and institutions.
In 2012, a partnership agreement between the competitiveness pole "Lyonbiopôle" and its counterpart in Montreal was signed. Some thirty Montreal businesses in the field of life sciences were represented in Lyon, in November 2012, to decide on the main lines of this collaboration.
