Lyon - Geneva (Switzerland) cooperation, key dates
In 2007, the cultural operation "The nice neighbour" - implemented at the initiative of the Rhône-Alpes Region and in partnership with the City of Lyon, the Swiss Consulate General and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvétia - took place with the aim of presenting Swiss contemporary creation and promoting exchanges between the artists and the cultural structures of Geneva and Lyon. In total, 164 events and over 300 Swiss artists have been welcomed to the cultural institutions of the towns and cities in the Rhône-Alpes region. These events have attracted over 60,000 visitors to Rhône-Alpes.
In 2009, the reciprocal operation took place in Switzerland, in partnership with the Rhône-Alpes Region and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvétia.
Lyon and Geneva cooperate in the area of green spaces: the two cities are pursuing the same policy of "natural and respectful management of the environment" and are endeavouring in particular to reduce the use of phytosanitary substances.
Exchanges of expertise are still taking place in the area of early childhood, in particular in the areas of school architecture and education in sustainable development.
