Imaginove digital entertainment competitiveness cluster
Imaginove is a moving image sector competitiveness cluster (video games, audio-visual, cinema, animation and multimedia) which unites companies in the Rhône-Alpes region around a common objective: to develop synergies between these sectors by encouraging anticipation and stimulating innovation.
Imaginove actors
Created in 2005, the “Imaginove competitiveness cluster”, also labeled cluster by Rhône-Alpes region, brings together image industry actors: video games, cinema, audiovisual and multimedia.
This cluster is supported by Rhône-Alpes region, the Rhône-Alpes DRIRE, and Greater Lyon.
The ambitions & actions of Imaginove
To anticipate, develop and promote image-based economic activity
- To develop synergies between the different image sectors (video games, cinema, audio-visual, animation and multimedia) in order to increase the competitiveness of product design, production and distribution in Rhône-Alpes.
- To support companies in Rhône-Alpes through change by providing simple, practical support in three areas: technological research and development, sales and international, employment – training
- Animate sector by unifying the logical public and private, and gather different actors: companies, laboratories, training centers ...
- Imaginove also has an ambition to develop loyalty and attract new talents in the Rhône-Alpes region
The objective of Imaginove
To become the European point of reference for the virtual image and video game sector in five years' time.
The cluster is dedicated exclusively to the creation and distribution of multimedia content, and aims to become the European point of reference in five years' time. Since 2005, Imaginove has anticipated elements such as international competition, changing patterns of use (digitisation, mobility, etc.) and the "cross-media" strategies of international groups.
Imaginove and Greater Lyon
Since the cluster was created, Greater Lyon has:
- funded 5 projects *
- provided grants to a total of €600,000 *
* out of a total of 24 accredited R&D projects and €43 million, between 2006-2008
Image industry in Rhône-Alpes
The ambition of the association is based on a strong image sector in Rhône-Alpes:
- 650 companies,
- 23 research laboratories,
- 28 image-related training programmes and
- international events such as Game Connection, the Marché et le Festival du Film d’Animation d’Annecy, the Cartoon Movie or the Serious Games Sessions.
