Hotel development: large hotel projects in Greater Lyon, France
Dynamizing the economic development of the city and reinforcing the international image of Lyon as a tourist destination are the leading goals of the Lyon metropolis. The reinforcement of hotel capacity is thus a priority for competing with large European cities.
A “jumbo” four-star hotel at Part-Dieu
The business tourism market is booming in the Lyon metropolitan area. To offer the best conditions of welcome to this clientele, Greater Lyon is encouraging the implantation of:
- a four-star hotel
- with around 400 rooms
- at the heart of Part-Dieu business district.
The hotel will benefit from the central location of the district. As a true multimodal platform revolving around the TGV station, the district is also a European-level decisionmaking area in full expansion. Starting in 2011, it will be only 25 minutes by tramway from the international airport.
A luxury hotel in the prestigious Hôtel-Dieu setting
The historical site of the Lyon Civil Hospices since 1184, the Hôtel-Dieu was built in the 18th century from plans by Soufflot, the architect who designed the Pantheon in Paris. It is one of the largest buildings on the Presqu’île center of Lyon.
Representing Lyon’s leading hospital, the complex facing the Rhône river houses a health service which is an integral part of the Regional and University Hospital Center of Lyon. The urban agglomeration of Lyon has now decided to convert and highlight this site by making it into an emblematic, top-of-the-line accommodation area.
The community is encouraging creation of a hotel complex on the international level with:
- prestigious five-star hotel,
- businesses,
- restaurants,
- offices, etc.
The “green” hotel of Lyon Technological Park
Investor: SCSP Company
Construction of a three-star HQE hotel:
- utilization of renewable energy (solar and wood),
- double-flow ventilation,
- system for recovering hot water, etc.
The building and even the operation of the hotel will be part of an operational approach that is 100% sustainable development: companies and suppliers will be recruited locally to limit travel and reduce waste, etc.
Starting in the first quarter of 2011, customers will benefit from a hotel that is totally HQE at the entrance to the Saint-Priest Technological Park and very close to the nerve centers of the urban agglomeration.
