Water management, sanitation and waste
Water
Greater Lyon is responsible for the water circuit in the city area.
It distributes (including water catchment, treatment, distribution and upkeep of the network) and purifies water (including collecting, transporting and treating waste water and rain water).
From now on the water that runs out of your tap will be called Grand'O de Lyon
With this labelling, Greater Lyon hopes that everybody in the region will understand more about the quality of the water they are drinking and the need to conserve stocks of drinking water for future generations.

Managing rain water
Rain water management must be included in any development work in order to be sustainable. To achieve this, returning rainwater to the natural environment is made a requirement by the Greater Lyon water board for new buildings.
Rainwater management is the responsibility of everyone. The rules which apply and the technical solutions are fairly simple and require only common sense, but they must be taken into consideration right from the beginning of a project for better integration and reduced cost.
This is why the Greater Lyon Urban Community has decided to publish a special guide. It answers the main questions that you ask yourself so as to provide better understanding of the problems which may occur throughout your project. It also gives technical recommendations and information on the procedure to be followed, without pretending to do the work of a research department.
Greater Lyon's guide and 11 practical fact sheets for professionals can be downloaded.
