Clean technologies: services for companies in Greater Lyon (France)
Greater Lyon is developing services for companies offering clean solutions.
Services for cleantech business: objectives
- facilitate testing for those companies using innovative clean technologies in the Lyon conurbation;
- encourage, with other public partners, efforts in innovation, which might go from financing a project in its early stages for young businesses or engineering finance;
- promote the skills of local businesses;
- support, in partnership with the Aderly, those that want to set up cleantech businesses, by guiding them to suitable land and property solutions that meet their needs, in particular, with professionals in the field offering tailor-made solutions;
- facilitate meetings between professionals by organising information exchanges.
Model your eco-innovations
The various organisations that promote innovation in the Rhône-Alpes region, Oséo, the ADEME (Environmental and energy agency), the Deposits and Consignment Fund (CDC) and the INPI offer local businesses specially designed funding for eco-innovation, INNOV'R. This is a permanent call for projects which enables innovative projects to be selected in the field of eco technology such as management of effluent and waste, water, management of waste, energy, construction and eco-innovating products and services etc.
In order to develop testing in an urban setting, Greater Lyon, Grenoble City and now Saint-Etienne City have added to the existing INNOV'R services by creating a new service offer to businesses in the cleantech field: INNOV'R Experimentation.
This is for those companies that have developed a prototype and want to test it in an urban space by using resources made available by Greater Lyon, Grenoble City and Saint-Etienne City services.
With INNOV'R Experimentation, eco-innovating businesses can undertake testing using the services of the Greater Lyon Authority.
Encouraging collaborative innovation over several platforms
Greater Lyon as part of its strategy for support of innovation in the Greater Lyon's priority areas (one of which is cleantech), gives its support to structuring projects that allow for:
- the development of collaborative public/private research
- access for SMEs to shared equipment for innovation.
Axel'One
Axel'One is a collaborative specialised innovation platform for chemical and environment businesses.
In response to the needs of businesses, Axel'One allows companies access to shared services (premises, equipment, competences) by giving a home to collaborative projects linked to clean processes and innovative materials.
Axel'One offers:
- property, designed to house collaborative R&D projects
- access to shared equipment and in particular high performing means of calculation.
Piséo
Piséo is a platform which aims to make available to businesses, SMEs and large groups, publically funded laboratories and more generally all lighting businesses, high level techniques and competences in order to support the technological changes brought about by the emergence of electroluminescent diodes (LEDs) in the field of lighting, signing and signalling.
Piséo allows companies access to high added value services in technologies such as:
- angular photometry
- luminence mapping
- thermal analysis
- photobiological risk
Transpolis
Transpolis is a project for a technological and test platform for urban public transport of the future (unique in Europe).
The Transpolis platform will:
- concentrate all the infrastructure for research and development (studies, prototyping, testing, simulation etc.) required for the development, getting into service and commercial promotion of new systems of public transport
- work taking a systematic approach at 3 levels:
- vehicles (from the heaviest to the lightest)
- organisation of mobility (road equipment and interfaces)
- services.
Provademse
The Provademse platform aims to make available to businesses a shared competence and resource centre in the strategic areas of cleantech and in particular in the field of sustainable management of waste, water resources, raw materials and energy.
Provademse is a collaborative platform that acts in the area of research expertise and training in the fields of technologies linked to removal of polluting substances, increasing value and clean production.
This tool allows for the development of collaborative projects between the various players in the area of cleantech.
The Provademse platform was brought into being by the regional scientific groups EEDEMS and Envirhonalp and certificated by Axelera centre for excellence.
Financing projects
The FUI (The Single Interministerial Fund) is designed to support applied research projects that develop those products and services that could be put on the market on the short or medium term.
It allows for the financing of collaborative research and development projects (SMEs, large accounts, laboratories) by centres of excellence with two calls for projects per year. The projects accepted will get the support of the State and local authorities concerned.
Greater Lyon which is associated with these measures as it co-finances R&D projects certified by Axelera, LUTB and Techtera.
Enhancing the value of one's work
The network brings together key partners to enhance your expertise, procedures and products.
Lyon Science Transfer (LST) is a service shared with the University of Lyon that develops technology or knowledge that has come from the research in the public sector:
- depositing patents
- giving licences
- technology transfers
- research under contract
Creating your company
Key partners will offer technical and financial support to cleantech businesses, as well as members of the Lyon Entrepreneurial network:
- Créalys, the West Rhône-Alpes region business incubator supports business start-ups developed in partnership with a public sector research during the pre-set up phase
- Novacité, European Centre for Business and Innovation (CEEI), supports start-up projects developed without any direct links to local publically funded research in the pre start-up phase and during the first post start-up years.
Growing your company
A network of partners is ready to help with development and competitiveness of cleantech businesses.
The Lyon Chamber of Commerce supports businesses as they develop innovative approaches (CCInnovation service) and also their international development (CCInternational service).
Greater Lyon supports businesses and organisations set-up, expand or relocate their business in the region (land and premises).
ADERLY the agency for the economic development of the Lyon region supports businesses from outside the area if they want to set-up in the Lyon region.
OSEO, the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Greater Lyon help businesses raise funds and obtain finance (private investors, business angels etc.).
