For the thirteenth consecutive year, Lyonbiopôle, a world-class competitiveness cluster, and the major players in life sciences from the Rhône-Alpes territory will be present, along with 18 companies of the Rhône-Alpes region, at the BIO 2012 (Biotechnology Industry Organization) International Convention to be held from June 18 to 21, 2012, in Boston, Massachusetts.
They will be ready to greet you at the French Pavilion on the Lyonbiopôle stand (no. 1043)!
A reference event on the international scene, BIO 2012 is a meeting place for world leaders in the biotechnology industries. The 20,000 convention participants will be able to:
- gather information and discuss major trends in the sector,
- create partnerships, and, above all,
- do business with the major players of the biotechnology sector in attendance (pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, investors, etc.).
Greater Lyon at BIO 2012 in Boston
For the BIO 2012 International Convention, the Rhône-Alpes region, Greater Lyon, the Grenoble Metro, the CCI of Lyon, Lyonbiopôle and Aderly, in partnership with UbiFrance, are financing a stand for the Lyonbiopôle competitiveness cluster and are contributing to travel fees for companies from Lyon and Grenoble.
Greater Lyon will be at the side of its regional partners to promote the local life sciences industry during this event by enabling 18 companies to exhibit together on a group stand under the Lyonbiopôle banner:

BIO 2012 will also provide an opportunity for the Lyonbiopôle competitiveness cluster known worldwide for its excellence in vaccines and diagnostics, to promote the competitiveness of French companies and to facilitate their interactions with American and international companies through the organization of the 6th edition of "Fast-Track R&D Partnering with France" on Monday June 18, 2012 at the W Boston Hotel, in collaboration with French health and biotech competitiveness clusters.
2011 Assessment
In 2011, the BIO International Convention:
- counted over 15,600 participants from 65 countries and
- over 21,000 meetings between 2,400 companies at the business convention.
Life sciences in Greater Lyon
The life sciences in Lyon and in the Rhône-Alpes region are represented by 600 companies (world leaders, innovative smaller companies and start-ups), along with 150 academic research laboratories and 40 hospitals, for a total of nearly 100,000 employees.
